Associate Research Fellow of IAS, Member of European Academy of Sciences and Arts, National Distinguished Expert, Doctor of Science (DSc), Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK, Fellow of the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) in the UK, and Senior Member of IEEE in the USA. Formerly served as the Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Reading, Head of the Department of Computer Science at Loughborough University, tenured Professor, Chair Professor and Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School at Southern University of Science and Technology, among other positions. Awarded the Honeywell Award by the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) in 2010 for outstanding contributions to the field of measurement and control. In 2014, he was granted an honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) degree by Loughborough University, symbolizing a 'Lifetime Achievement Award'.
Prof. Yang's main research areas include Industrial Internet Safety and Security, Cyber Physical Systems, Data Science, Industrial Artificial Intelligence. He has published 4 English monographs and over 320 research papers, with more than 8000 Google citations and an H-Index of 40.
The courses of the Computer Science and Technology programme are designed for students who are interested in learning state-of-art computer science and its related technology that can be applied to real world problems. In this programme, students will develop theoretical, methodical, and technological research foundations on various computer systems with applications. BNBU provides high quality teaching resources with laboratories to students in Computer Science to perform research and training in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Robotics, Autonomous Driving System, Quantum Finance and Program Trading, Visualization and Computer Graphics, Programming, Software Developments, etc. Further, a Data Centre was formed in collaboration with Industry to support big data research activities.
