The Exhibition of Miao and Yi Traditional Costumes and Institute for Advanced Study 4th Lecture

The Institute for Advanced Study is pleased to announce UIC 20th Anniversary celebration series activities The Exhibition of Miao and Yi Traditional Costumes, which will be held from March 12 to 31, 2025. The opening ceremony will take place at 14:00 on the afternoon of March 12 in Institute for Advanced Study, Campus Phase II. This exhibition focuses on the traditional costumes of the Miao and Yi ethnic groups, showcasing their unique clothing craftsmanship, aesthetic tastes, and cultural heritage. These costumes are not only everyday wear but also a vivid testament to the ethnic culture, history, and traditions. Their colors, patterns, and shapes reflect the unique understanding of nature, society, and life by the Miao and Yi people, documenting the inherited skills and wisdom through generations and demonstrating their highly creative aesthetic expression. During this event, we are honored to invite Professor Yang Zhengwen, a professor and doctoral supervisor from the Institute for Ethnic Study at Southwest Minzu University, to deliver the the Institute for Advanced Study 4th Lecture. He will introduce The Significance of Miao Costume Embroidery to our faculty and students. At the same time, this exhibition is open to all teachers and students to visit, and those who come to visit have the opportunity to DIY ethnic pattern canvas bags and get exquisite gifts.

●No registration is required for this exhibition, and there is no limit on the number of participants. Everyone is welcome to visit the Institute for Advanced Study office during the exhibition's opening hours.
●During this exhibition, visitors can experience DIY ethnic pattern canvas bags and get beautiful souvenirs.
