The Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) was established in 2005 as an international university that integrates Eastern and Western liberal arts education. UIC is dedicated to nurturing students with both professional knowledge and a broad set of skills, a strong sense of social responsibility, and a global outlook. As an important milestone in the university's development, the newly established UIC Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) aims to promote cutting-edge research and innovation, focusing on interdisciplinary research in cutting-edge technology fields such as AI and big data, as well as in the humanities and social sciences. IAS will host the "The Future of the Past: Charting the Frontier of AI in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Zhuhai Forum" from January 3rd to 4th, 2025.
This forum will convene leading experts from diverse fields - archaeology, cultural heritage studies, computer science, mathematics, and data science - to explore the potential impact of AI technologies - particularly those driven by recent advances in deep learning - on how we discover, interpret, and preserve our human past. Key topics include: Computer Vision and Artifact Classification; Predictive Modeling for Archaeological Site Discovery; Material Composition and Provenance Studies; Deciphering Ancient Texts and Scripts; Preservation and Digital Restoration of Artifacts; Virtual Reconstruction and 3D Modeling; Remote Sensing, Big Data, and Spatial Analysis.Join us in Zhuhai for two days of inspiring presentations, insightful discussions, and collaborative exploration.
