His work includes in-depth discussions on the philosophy of education, the ontological foundations of artificial intelligence, and frontier issues in the philosophy of mathematics, making him an outstanding figure in contemporary Bulgarian and European philosophical circles.
Brief intro to the lecture:
Bulgaria’s education system faces significant challenges, ranking low in reading comprehension, mathematics, and civic education among European countries due to an emphasis on theoretical knowledge rather than practical skills. This focus leaves students ill-prepared for real-world demands, despite efforts to adopt a competence-based approach in line with European educational frameworks. To address these deficiencies, integrating Whitehead’s process philosophy provides a dynamic, holistic solution, emphasizing "living knowledge" that fosters both cultural understanding and specialized expertise, thus promoting critical and creative thinking through a balance of theory and practice. Practically, a proposed "Laboratory of Innovative Learning," led by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, aims to spearhead this reform by creating new educational resources, piloting experimental programs, and offering teacher training to encourage active learning and global citizenship. This approach aspires to modernize Bulgarian education, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an interconnected and rapidly evolving world.
