Professor Shan Xiaowen from the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of UIC was invited to give a keynote at the OpenGeometry open source community forum on November 6. As the Director of the Academic and Technical Committee of the OpenGeometry project of the Digital Industrial Software Alliance, Professor Shan elaborated in depth on the topic "The core technology and development trend of geometric kernel" which offered detailed insight and pointed out the future directions of future development. The IAS at UIC is expected to play a pivotal role in developing future industrial software.
The OpenGeometry project is incubated by the Digital Industrial Software Alliance (DISA). The theme of this forum focuses on analysis of the geometric kernel industry trend and sharing of cutting-edge technologies. Meanwhile, the construction and development plan of the open community was launched on the forum. The forum gathers technical and academic experts, and a wide range of open source project contributors and developers to provide the underlying "root" technology for industrial software, boosting the development of a sustainable open source ecosystem.
A number of prominent scholars and experts in the field participated in the forum. Dr. Fang Zhigang(Director of the OpenGeometry project working committee of the Digital Industrial Software Alliance) , Mr. Mo Zuoqin (Director of Huawei RISCE Laboratory. At the same time, dozens of participants from various institution gathered together to share wisdom and insights on strategic development of OpenGeometry.
